Announcing Camp Willow’s Light

We are honored to announce our pediatric and family grief camp program, Camp Willow’s Light. Our first camp will be held November 14-15 at Camp Gravett, Aiken, South Carolina. Future camps will be scheduled as possible in communities where we serve. 

Camp Willow’s Light is a youth-centered and family focused retreat for children and families who have lost a loved one within the past three years. 

Named in memory of our pediatric patient, Willow “brought light, laughter, and love to all who knew her. Her smile was contagious, her spirit unbreakable…her light shines on.” 

Made possible through the Carnation Foundation, camp curriculum is designed by Certified Child Life Specialists and offers a range of activities that support children and youth ages 5 to 18 and their adult parent/caregivers as they deal with loss and grief.

Our approach allows opportunity for play, laughter, and memory making activities, which may include some tears. We include adult parent/caregivers in camp activities as research shows their involvement is important in the child’s grief process. 

Our application process includes an online form for each participant. One of our camp team members will call for a discussion to ensure camp is a good fit for your needs. 

Our camp cost is a minimal fee per family that helps with application processing costs. If the family fee is a financial hardship, a waiver can be requested to ensure no family is turned away due to financial need.
